Alembic Club members in 1907. Second from right on the back row is Henry Moseley, whose discoveries in physics
and chemistry might have led to a Nobel Prize were it not for his tragic death at Gallipoli in 1915. Third from left in the
middle row is Bertram Lambert, who developed the box respirator to protect soldiers from poison gas in WWI. Fifth
from left is T S Moore, co-discoverer of the hydrogen bond with T F Winmill. Sixth from left is Nevil Sidgwick, who went
on to make significant contributions to the theory of valency and chemical bonding. Henry Tizard (front row, first left)
developed the ‘octane rating’ to classify fuel, helped to develop radar, and led a mission in WWII to advance transatlantic
                scientific and technical cooperation.
